Q: What Apple devices will ACT! for the iPhone work on?
A: Since we are developing for the iPhone OS 4, our app will run on the following devices :
iPhones :3G, 3GS, 4, 4s
iPod Touch :3G, 4G
iPad : All Versions
Q: How will it work?
A: You will download the application from Apple's iTunes AppStore. You need to download a "server" piece from our site, then run and configure that on your machine. The iPhone/iPod will then connect through the internet back to your PC to open ACT! and retrieve data live. You will be required to open a port in your firewall to allow the iPhone to connect. You will need a license that can be purchased at Actwiz.com
Q: Will it Sync a copy of my contacts to my iPhone/iPod/iPad??
A: UPDATE: Yes, will Sync ACT! data to the App on the iPhone/iPad
Q: Will it work on a iPod Touch?
A: The application will work on an iPod Touch but you wont be able to make calls or access the database when you are not connected to WiFi.
Q: Will ACT! for the iPhone use the native iPhone AddressBook?
A: No, ACT! for the iPhone is a separate application and the data between it and the Address Book will not mix.
Q: What if I don't want to leave my computer on all the time? Or I don't know how to open ports etc?
A: If this is your situation, we recommend having you ACT! database hosted by a Sage ACT! Hosting Provider Remote Tech Group. They can host the "server" application. You may also see a performance increase in the iPhone application when your database is hosted.
Q: Will ACT! for the iPhone have monthly fees?
A: No, because you will host the data on your machine, there is no need for monthly services.
Q: Will the application be named "ACT! for the iPhone"?
A: No, ACT! is a trademark of Sage Software, so the application will be Called iTrACT
Q: Will ACT! for the iPhone work on Apples new iPad?
A: Yes, it will be a Universal app, you will download it once and it will run on your iPhone and or iPad.
Q: Will there ever be ACT! for Googles Android?
A: As of right now our primary goal is to deliver ACT! for the iPhone.
Q: Can you explain the diffrences between your "ACT for the iPhone", Handheld contact's "HHC for the iPhone" and Sages ACT Mobile Live?
A:ACT! Mobile Live, and "CompanionLink Via GoogleSync" use the native address book for the device, and has no support for Notes, Histories, Companies, Groups, Opportunities....etc. Your business contacts will be mixed in with your family contacts. We have collected 400+ surveys from people interested in our product and over 50% do not want contacts mixed.
The annual cost for ACT! mobile Live is about $60 USD.
CompanionLink has a one time $99 USD software purchase.
HHC for iPhone is finally out, and they have done a great job with version 3. There is a monthly services that can do what ACT! Mobile Live does for free. Then there is the paid premium sync that had its own application that does include a separate contact list, notes, histories, companies etc.. but you rely on the HHC servers, and its a sync method.
The annual cost is about $240 USD.
ACT! for the iPhone how ever is different. Once the app is downloaded in the iTunes AppStore, the ACT! user will download, install, configure a service on their ACT machine, or ACT! server. Then the iPhone App will connect and sync data from the ACT! machine and pull data over the internet or local wifi. For most end users this will require some technical abilities like open ports etc, but thats where an ACC, ACT! Hosting Providers, IT staff, or our paid support can come into help configure the software and or basic firewalls.
There is a one time cost of $49.99 for the application. Even if you need our paid support to help you set it up, the solution is more cost effective and more functional than other options.
